Covid-19 Furlough Agreement Template and Guidance Notes

During this unprecedented time, the British Government has implemented a number of legislation changes to help manage the spread of the Covid-19 global pandemic. To help support employers and employees, a Furlough Scheme has been introduced. The Furlough Scheme has been implemented to assist employers pay the salaries of employees that they would have otherwise laid off or made redundant as a result in the downturn of work due to the effects of the Coronavirus. Furlough means that employees will remain employed and will be placed on a mutually agreed leave of absence, for at this stage a maximum period of three months, whereby the employer can claim direct from HMRC 80% of the affected employees salary, capped at £2500 per month. The minimum period of time an employee can be furloughed for is three weeks and they must have been on the payroll before 28th February 2020 – any new employees employed after this date will not be eligible for the Furlough Scheme.
