Why is it important to have a Maternity Leave Letter?
As an employer, you are obliged by law, to provide Maternity Leave to your employees in line with legislation. If you don’t manage the process correctly you could be leaving yourself and your business exposed to unwanted disputes.
Once you’ve been notified that one of your employees is pregnant, you will need them to complete a Maternity Leave Letter (Notification of Pregnancy) to formal state that they are now expecting. There are no formal timescales for when this is done however it is usually 20 weeks once a MATB-1 form has been issued by the midwife.
Our Maternity Leave Letter (Notification of Pregnancy) template is easy to use and will provide you with everything you need to ensure you are following a compliant process.
Managing a Maternity Leave process can be pretty complex so you need to make sure that you get it right. If you don’t you could be on the other end of an employment dispute such as an Employment Tribunal.
